The Exilim EX-H10 is Casio's latest point-and-shoot release and is designed to offer users a compact frame and 'super zoom' capabilities.
On paper the EX-H10 certainly has drool worthy specifications with regard to its positioning as a super-zoom model; it offers an incredible 10x optical zoom via a 24mm wide-angle lens. In use, the zoom lens proved brilliant as it allowed us to capture distant subjects without any real issue. That said, shooting at the highest zoom requires the use of a tripod as even slight movements blurred the photograph (this is something that will happen with all cameras that offer high zoom however).
Studying the Casio's captured images we noticed a very slight bit of visible noise even on photographs taken in the day. This is a bit of a disappointment but in terms of night shots, oddly, the Casio Exilim EX-H10 returned shots that had an equivalent amount of noise to the other cameras in this grouptest. Considering the noise we noticed in the day photos, we expected to see higher than average noise in the low-light photos as well.
In terms of design the EX-H10 is a sleek looker and in hand, it feels incredibly solid and well built. All of its buttons and controls are also placed intuitively across the camera body and combined with the simple but effective interface that we've encountered on other Exilim models, this Casio is supremely simple to use with one hand or two.
Verdict: Although the Exilim’s photographs suffer from slightly above average noise the EX-H10 can’t be beat in terms of zoom.
