Sony NEX-C3 flashes in

Sony has announced its latest interchangeable lens camera - the Sony NEX-C3 - following up on the success of last year's NEX-3 and NEX-5.

Claiming the new design as the "world’s smallest, lightest interchangeable lens camera with APS-C sized sensor", the NEX-C3 comes in weighing 225g; 6 per cent less than the NEX-3.

Sony-NEX-C3-1 It packs an Exmor 16.2-megapixel sensor, can shoot 720p video and boasts a 7.5cm LCD display on the back with TruBlack screen technology.

There's 3D panorama shooting on board, an auto HDR option, a new set of "Picture Effect" modes (such as Partial Colour, Retro Photo, Pop Colour, High Contrast Monochrome, Posterisation, High-key and Toy Camera) and you can even do away with wrinkles with the "Soft Skin" effect.

Sony has also used the Sony NEX-C3 launch to detail a new E-mount lens - the SEL30M35 - which is a 30mm F3.5 macro lens featuring a 1:1 magnification ratio and minimum working distance of just 2.4 cm; Sony claims this is the world’s lightest life-size macro lens at 138g.

The Sony NEX-C3's pricing and release date are still to be confirmed, although we do know that sometime this month new firmware for the NEX-5 and the NEX-3 will land, bringing along the new "Picture Effect" settings.
